Springboro's Juneteenth Jubilee

  • Downtown Springboro (map)

The Springboro Juneteenth Jubilee is a family-friendly community celebration being held on June 15-17, 2023, honoring the important day in our nation's history, June 19, 1865, when we all truly became free. On this day, the last slaves in Galveston, Texas were finally told of their freedom, nearly two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation had abolished slavery.

This will be a celebration of our shared history, freedom, and continued commitment to equity and inclusion for all.  They will kick off the weekend on Thursday, June 15th, with a community blood drive hosted by Community Blood Center. On Friday June 16th,  Sinclair College will host a Juneteenth community symposium  on the topic of "Family Matters" followed by a Night of Jazz with Friends at the Jubilee Dinner. On Saturday, June 17th, they will celebrate with live music, food trucks, local vendors, and more at North Park Amphitheatre. You can also experience an Underground Railroad tour or sign up to play in our 3-on-3 basketball tournament--early registration open now! Attend all six or choose your favorites! All are welcome!

WHY JUNETEENTH IN SPRINGBORO?  Springboro is a significant landmark in the history of the Underground Railroad and abolitionist movement. Our founding Quaker community played a major role as a  safe harbor for slaves paving the way for freedom for Black Americans.
